1) de Loitte, Vinia (Comtesse de Vilme-Hautmont).
Gilbert & Sullivan Opera in Australia.
Sydney: [Privately printed], [n.d., 1936]. 1879-1936, seventeenth edition. « Being a short account of the stories of the operas and of their production and revivals in Australia. » Original bright blue textured wrappers now severely faded to denim and grey; many closed tears at edges, one 1″ tear with crease neatly repaired; some spotting and soiling at edges and 3″ glass ring on rear panel. Staples rusted and nearly detached from cover; « spider-web » patterned glassine fly-leaves; upper corner bent; text bright and clean. Signed by the author, with sentiment « ‘I love all brave men’ (Yeomen) ». A very good copy of a cheaply produced booklet. An unusual history of G & S down under, including descriptions of various professional productions around the continent (and anecdotes thereof), photos and mentions of the Australian Savoyards (including Ivan Menzies, Richard Watson, Alice Barnett, Harry Benham, and the author and her husband, Howard Vernon), and the visit of Alfred Cellier in 1886.
